Daily brief (11/8): Top picks from the Springfield media

Sunny, with a high near 62. Wind chill values as low as 31 early.

Moisture will begin to return Friday and Saturday and we will notice an increase in our cloud cover.

Temperatures will continue to warm despite the clouds and strong winds.  Highs will be in the upper 60s to near 70 Friday and Saturday.

DEER SEASON opens Saturday!! The day should begin partly to mostly cloudy windy and warm with lows in the mid 50s.

Highs Saturday could again top out in the upper 60s to near 70. Gusty winds will make it a tough day in the deer stand not only for safety reasons but the high winds will keep the deer from moving around too much.

A line of thunderstorms is possible beginning late Saturday night or early Sunday so tent campers should stay up on the latest forecast.

The end result is going to be prolonged period of moderate to heavy rain.  Several inches of rain may fall and flooding could be an issue now that the growing season has ended.

In addition, very cold air will plunge in behind this storm and any lagging cold air may generate a few snow flurries early Monday.

Monday and Tuesday of next week promise to be very cold with highs in the 40s!
