Today’s picks

  • News-Leader:Workforce programs merger is unlikely. The idea of merging the city’s workforce development department with a similar department at Ozarks Technical Community College appears to be dead in the water. Draft minutes from the meeting obtained by the News-Leader suggest the board’s decision was driven, in part, by some members’ anger about being left out of early discussions. Legal concerns and confidence in the current system also were cited as reasons for cutting short talk of a merger.
  • KY3:Motorcycle ride Sunday to benefit Victory Mission. Motorcycle riders are welcome Sunday to ride in the Ozarks to support Victory Mission. A bout 200 riders are expected to gather around noon in the 200 block of West Commercial street in Springfield. The 50-mile ride departs at 1:30 Sunday afternoon. The cost is 20-dollars for a single rider and 30-dollars for a double rider.  All the proceeds support the work of Victory Mission– which fights poverty and homelessness in the Ozarks.
  • OzarksFirst: Art in the Park paints pretty picture in Sequiota Park. All types of artistic mediums were represented, which gave people with a love of art a lot to choose from whether they were buying for themselves or stocking up for the holidays. Mediums included those specializing in fiber, watercolor, and mixed media. A harpist played music for attendees to enjoy while they browsed.
