Watch for patchy fog after 1am tonight but for the most part, the night will be mostly clear, with a low around 68.

Get ready for a sunny and hot Labor Day, with a high near 94. Heat index values could be as high as 98.  Tuesday and Wednesday will continue the theme of sunny and hot with highs in the 90’s.  The next chance of showers and thunderstorms are predicted for Thursday.

  •  News-Leader: A place for the homeless to heal.The Kitchen Inc., housed in the historic Missouri Hotel and founded to help the homeless, wasn’t designed for people recovering from broken hips or people in wheelchairs.Springfield needs a medical respite, a place where homeless people too sick or too injured to recuperate on the street, yet not sick or injured enough for hospitalization, can recover.
  • OzarksFirst: Ozarks Mule Days give enthusiasts a kick. Ozarks Mule Days celebration is this weekend  with a variety of mule races and games that will continue through the weekend. (Other coverage:  News-Leader)
  • News-Leader: The local doll that became a world craze. Rose O’Neill’s Kewpie turns 100 this year. The Kewpies reflected O’Neill’s personality. They were her social conscience.
  • KSMU: 260,000 pounds of food and supplies arrive in the Gulf from Convoy of Hope.  A team from Ozarks-based Convoy of Hope is in the Gulf Coast region to distribute food and resources to people affected by Hurricane Isaac.
