Daily brief (6/5): Top picks from the Springfield media

Today will set the stage for a nice week. It will be sunny with a high of 82.

Tonight will remain clear, and the low will dip to 57.  Expect more of the same for the rest of the week: Sunny days with highs in the 80s and lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s overnight.

Today’s picks

Election day

Several municipalities have items on the ballot for today’s election (KY3, OzarksFirst), including:

  • Springfield: Smoking ban repeal up for vote. Springfield residents will decide whether to keep the ban approved a year ago. A “no” vote would keep the ban; a “yes” vote would repeal it. (KSMU, KY3News-Leader, OzarksFirst)
  • Fair Grove: Capital improvement tax up for renewal. Fair Grove officials are asking voters to renew a ¼-cent capital improvement tax needed to pay off a wastewater treatment plant built years ago. (KSPR)

Other picks

  • KY3: Some residents want to dissolve Macks Creek. With limited revenue coming into Macks Creek, some Macks Creek residents want to dissolve the Camden County town as an incorporated entity.
  • OzarksFirst: City Council to interview applicants today. The Springfield City Council will meet with nine applicant at noon today to choose a group of finalists.
