Daily brief (5/28): Top picks from the Springfield media

Several Memorial Day observances (KY3, OzarksFirst) are happening through the Ozarks today, including a 10 a.m. service at the Springfield National Cemetery on East Seminole Street.

Today will be partly sunny and hot once again, with a high of 89. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms enters the forecast for today, and a steady wind with gusts of up to 23 mph should help take some of the edge off.

Clouds will thicken tonight, and rain chance increase to 40 percent. But skies should clear by tomorrow before rain chances return again Wednesday and Thursday. Thunderstorms are likely Thursday; however, expect clear skies for the weekend with much cooler temperatures.
