  • News-Leader: City Council still pondering future of smoking ban. Members of Springfield’s City Council discussed several ideas for amending Springfield’s smoking ban, including repealing it and replacing it with an amended law.
  • OzarksFirst: Hilton at Branson Landing may reopen in September. Windows are boarded up at the Hilton Hotel on Branson Landing, but the hotel’s manager is optimistic the location’s windows will be replaced in the coming weeks, and the first event in the convention center will be next month.
  • KY3: City Utilities discusses plans for new bus transfer station. City Utilities on Thursday showed plans for a new bus transfer facility at College Avenue and Main Street in Springfield. It also announced that 95,000 more people rode the bus last year. (Other coverage: News-Leader)
  • OzarksFirst: Springfield’s mail-processing facility to close in February. The American Postal Workers Union revealed that it received notice Springfield’s mail-processing facility will close Feb. 9, 2013.
  • KSPR: Springfield police to re-open south station to public. Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams said the lobby of the south police station on West Battlefield Road will re-open to the public in July for quick access to police officials and reports. The lobby had been closed because of staff shortages.
