  • News-Leader: Better paths sought for Springfield bikers, walkers. The Mayor’s Traffic Advisory Board has begun meetings to hear from the public about sidewalk and path needs.
  • OzarksFirst: Petition forces smoking ban back to the City Council tonight. The Springfield City Council will revisit the city’s smoking ban tonight. Members will decide whether to repeal the law or send the repeal on to voters.
  • KY3: Proposed horse-slaughter plant has stirred emotions. Unified Equine wants to build the first U.S. horse-slaughter plant near Mountain Grove, which would bring 40-55 jobs to town. But many residents don’t want the plant in their town.
  • KSPR: West Plains company to announce expansion. Gov. Jay Nixon will be at the Ivensys Controls plant in West Plains this morning, when the gas-delivery system maker is expected to announce an expansion.
  • News-Leader: Possible law change could prevent children from working on some Ozarks farms. A proposed law change may prevent children under 16 from working on farms for grandparents or other relatives if those farms have been incorporated.
  • KSMU: Companies coming to veterans job fair. The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are hosting a job fair in Springfield for veterans and their spouses on Thursday at the National Guard Armory.
