Daily brief (9/3): Top picks from the Springfield media

Today will be the last of the heat for a while.

We’ll have more sun, with a high of 93. There’s a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, which will bring in much cooler temperatures for the week ahead.

Rain chances will linger tomorrow, with partly sunny skies and a high of 76. Labor Day will be picture perfect: Sunny, with a high of 72.

  • News-Leader: Missouri’s revenue up 4 percent. Sales-tax revenues increased in August, although income-tax collections decreased slightly.
  • OzarksFirst: Grant will create 20 jobs in Rogersville. The state of Missouri is providing a $200,000 grant to help create jobs at Mid-Am Metal Forging of Rogersville. (Other coverage: KY3)
  • KY3: Congressman Long tours Ozarks. Congressman Billy Long takes first major tour of the Ozarks since he took office in January and says job-creation initiatives are needed.
