  • News-Leader: Springfield schools expect about 24,000 students today. District officials say they may modify the school day if a heat warning/advisory is issued.
  • KSPR: Woman assaulted near MSU. Police are searching for a suspect after a random attack in central Springfield near the Missouri State University campus. The sexual assault happened during the midmorning hours of Aug. 22, and the suspect is described as 5’4″ tall, mid 20s to 30, slender but muscular, very short haircut, unshaven, and dark complexion.   • KY3: New Taney County trail opening for hikers, bikers. A 10.25-mile trail called the White River Valley Trail will open next month in Taney County for mountain bikers and hikers.
  • OzarksFirst: ‘No reserve’ auction planned for Saddlebrooke. The developer of the Saddlebrooke community between Springfield and Branson is auctioning 35 lots.
  • News-Leader: Unhappy neighbors fight hotel proposal. Some residents of the Ravenwood neighborhood want to stop the development of a five-story hotel off East Republic Road that would tower over their subdivision.
