Daily brief (5/8): Top picks from the Springfield media

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today will be summeresque: Sunny skies and a high of 85, but a nice breeze will help ease the heat. The beginning of the week will be more of the same, with rain not expected until mid-week.

Today’s picks

  • KY3: Dixon woman still missing after more than a week. Deborah Cirrincione, 54, of Dixon, was driving a blue Jeep Wrangler to the Wal-Mart near Fort Leonard Wood when she disappeared last Thursday. She has been suffering from brain cancer, and family members worry she may have had an aneurysm.
  • News-Leader: Schools undergoing training in safety. Districts across the state are undergoing training to deal with the possibility of an active shooter being on campus.
  • OzarksFirst [KOLR/KSFX]: Checkpoint in east Springfield nets 11 arrests. Eleven drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated during a Friday checkpoint on Sunshine Street.
  • KSPR: Volunteers repair flood damage in Branson park. Branson’s Stockstill Park sustained about $30,000 from the April floods.
