Daily brief (4/24): Top picks from the Springfield media

More showers and thunderstorms today bring a greater chance of flooding for some Ozarks counties including Greene.

Heavy rain is expected today, with a high of 63.

  • News-Leader: Nixa shooting case tests Castle Doctrine. Questions surround the case of Rex Hicks, who was shot and killed by a neighbor after a dispute over money. The shooter has said he shot in self-defense. No charges have been filed in the case.
  • OzarksFirst: Family plans vigil for missing couple. The family of Rebecca and Russell Porter, who have been missing from Willard since last Sunday, will be holding a prayer vigil at 5 p.m. today at Galloway Full Gospel Church on Farm Road 146, just west of West Bypass. (Other coverage: KSPR)
