Daily brief (2/16): Top picks from the Springfield media

But it won’t stop there. There’s a chance the high will top 70 degrees tomorrow.

Today’s picks:

  • OzarksFirst [KOLR/KSFX]: Park Board announces ambitious year with major events. Fifty-two different sports tournaments at all levels will be coming to Springfield over the next year. (Other coverage: News-Leader, KSMU)
  • News-Leader: State proposals would require photo ID to cast ballots. The proposal, from Rep. John Diehl, R-Town and Country, would include adding photo ID equipment and allowing early voting. Such proposals have not been successful in the past.
  • KY3: Students in the Ozarks helping kids in Haiti read. Students in Ozark and Bolivar are teaming up to create books for Haitian schools.
  • KSPR: Springfield primary election is Tuesday. The original Feb. 8 primary for Springfield City Council was postponed after this month’s snowstorm.
