Daily brief (2/6): Top picks from the Springfield media

CloudyClear those driveways because more snow moves into the forecast this week.

Today will be cloudy, with a chance of a wintry mix tonight. The high temperature will creep above freezing toward 38.

Tomorrow, a slight chance of snow enters the forecast, but chances improve as we move toward Wednesday. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow mid-week, when temperatures will drop once again well below freezing.

Stay warm, and enjoy the Super Bowl, scheduled to start at 5:25 p.m.

  • OzarksFirst [KOLR/KSFX]: Students offer free tax help. Students at Drury University are helping those who make $49,000 or less a year with their taxes — for free.
  • News-Leader: Manufacturers adapt to compete globally. Local companies need workers who can adapt to changing needs that require more diverse skills.
  • OzarksFirst: School roof collapses in Verona. The Lawrence County school district found Saturday that the roof over its business room had collapsed. Officials were able to salvage a few computers from the damage. (Other coverage: KY3)
  • KY3: Evangel students evacuated after gas-line break. No one was injured, but a sheet of ice fell and caused a gas-main break on the Evangel University campus. City Utilities shut off the line and fixed the problem. (Other coverage: KSPR)
