Daily brief (1/24): Top picks from the Springfield media

Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Tomorrow will be a blueprint for the week: The clouds will clear out, but the temperatures will remain in the 30s.

Today’s picks:

  • News-Leader: Primary needed for two City Council races. Two of Springfield’s council races have more than two candidates, meaning a primary election will be needed. The primary election for General Seat C and Zone 3 will be Feb. 8.
  • OzarksFirst: High-profile bills set for City Council. At tonight’s meeting, the council will consider bills involving a proposed smoking ban and  developments at U.S. Highway 65 and Chestnut Expressway as well as Highways 65 and 60. (Other coverage: KSPR)
  • KY3: Silver Dollar City adds splash of color to Ozarks school. Students at Reeds Spring Intermediate School will return to class today to a freshly painted building, thanks to volunteers and a grant from the Silver Dollar City Foundation.
