  • News-Leader: Council tables smoking and alcohol bans. It will be up to voters to decide whether to prohibit smoking in enclosed public places in Springfield and whether some movie theaters will be barred from selling alcohol, members of the Springfield City Council decided Monday night.   • KSPR: City designated 7 acres of central Springfield “blighted.” At Monday’s council meeting, council passed an ordinance designating 7 acres of central Springfield as blighted. Two developers requested the blight so they could apply for property tax abatements. (Also News-Leader)
  • KY3: Cancellation policy for Springfield public schools explained. Dozens of schools in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas will close this week because of snow. While every child in the viewing area eagerly awaits the text message or sees their school’s name on television, no district has the impact the Springfield Public Schools district does. (Also KSPR)
  • KY3: Great Southern Bank scam: caller ID spoofing put Ozarkers at risk. Victims of the Great Southern Bank phishing scam extend not only to those who gave personal information over the telephone to callers pretending to be with the bank but also to owners of legitimate numbers used for the scam.
