Daily brief (10/26): Top picks from the Springfield media

Today, a 20 percent chance of morning showers is possible with skies clearing to sunshine in the afternoon. Winds could reach 20 mph with a high in the upper 60s.

Today’s picks:

  • Election: KY3: New voting technology makes voting day easier for voters and poll workers. Voting next week at the most active polling places in Greene County should be a lot quicker than it has been in past elections thanks to some new technology.
  • News-Leader: Springfield school district adjusts to enrollment increase. Springfield’s enrollment has remained largely flat in recent years, hovering near 24,000. But this year’s bump–to 24,129–coincides with budget and staffing cuts.
  • OzarksFirst (KOLR/KSFX): Springfield’s traffic technology getting an upgrade. Engineers are working hard on a new avenue of transportation technology. The city recently got a green light on an advanced traffic management system.
  • News-Leader: Springfield school board to examine purpose of committees. Board members plan to evaluate, as early as Nov. 2, the purpose of existing committees and which one to keep or add.
