Daily brief (10/9): Top picks from the Springfield media

The weekend will be sunny and warm, with highs in the low 80s, but rain is expected to return to the Ozarks on Monday.

  • News-Leader: Springfield earns recognition for graduation rate. Springfield Public School saw a 1.7 percent increase in graduation during 2009-10.
  • OzarksFirst (KOLR/KSFX): Rep. Roy Blunt talks energy in Springfield. Blunt appeared at the Ozarks New Energy conference on Friday and offered his perspectives on alternative energy.
  • KSMU: WWII WASP pilot shares her story. Millicent Peterson came to Boyd Elementary in Springfield to tell her story about flying during World War II. She is believed to be one of 300 surviving WASP veterans.
