Morning brief (9/10): Top picks from the Springfield media

Happy Friday! It will be a sticky one today, with a high of 86 (heat index above 90), according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s picks:

  • KSPR: E.coli tests at Lake of the Ozarks show acceptable levels. For the first time this summer, tests at state beaches showed no high levels of E.coli bacteria, according to state environmental officials.
  • OzarksFirst (KOLR/KSFX): Three-month bridge project planned for Chestnut Expressway. Beginning Monday night, crews will be closing lanes and working on the bridge at U.S. 65 and Chestnut during the overnight hours.
  • KY3: Cox prepares to open new trauma center in Springfield. The new, larger trauma center at Cox South is scheduled to open later this month.
  • KSMU: Future of Springfield’s brick sidewalks uncertain. Springfield has some 13 miles of the bricked walkways, some of which are in a state of disrepair.
  • News-Leader: Blunt in Ozark for endorsement. U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, a Republican running for the U.S. Senate against Robin Carnahan, received an endorsement from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee.
