Morning brief (8/29): Top picks from the Springfield media

Today’s picks:

  • News-Leader: Branson airport fights reduced tax bill: The Branson airport’s structure — with Taney County owning the land and buildings and a tax district leasing the property — has cut the property’s tax bill to $30,000. But airport officials argue the bill should be zero.
  • KY3: Boaters urged to use caution as water levels drop: At Table Rock Lake, the dry weather means the water level has dipped to 913 feet, about two feet below the ideal level of 915 feet. But that’s still well above the record low of 881 feet from 1965.
  • OzarksFirst (KOLR/KSFX): Synthetic field brings promise to Springfield: The Springfield-Greene County Park Board dedicated an upgraded Greenwood Stadium Field at Cooper Soccer Complex. The $1 million upgrade includes a synthetic field.
  • Springfield Business Journal: Nonprofits share in $100k Wal-Mart State Foundation grant.
  • KSPR: Donor makes vision rehab center possible. (More about project is available from KY3).
