Today’s picks:

  • News-Leader: “Hearing to tackle CU rate hikes and budget.”
  • News-Leader: “Roaring ‘steam blows’ planned at Southwest 2 power plant”: The CU board will have a hearing at 3 p.m. today about proposed rate increases that would add about $5.84 a month to the average CU customer bill over the next three years. The new Southwest 2 is a step closer to a Nov. 10 opening as well, with planned “steam blows”(loud and visible burst to clear stacks) next week.
  • KY3: “Springfield police chief sets four coffee meetings with public”:  Police Chief Paul Williams will meet with the public at informal Wednesday meetings over the next month.
  • OzarksFirst (KOLR/KSFX): “Schools districts prepare policies for cyberbullying“: A state law effective Friday adds “cyberbullying” to the books.
  • KSPR: “Buffalo football coach resigns after player protest”: Shortly after returning from suspension, Ed Hula resigned as Buffalo’s coach. Fourteen players had quit after the coach removed another player.
